snapWONDERS just passed six million media processing jobs across snapWONDERS and Vaultify. This covers everything from forensic analysis — Error Level Analysis, clone detection, C2PA content credential checks, AI-generated content detection, and the rest of the 60+ automated forensic checks that run on every uploaded photo or video — through to media conversion, and hiding or revealing digital media with Vaultify. All of it available across three networks, because privacy matters: clearnet, Tor and I2P. The full number and what it actually means is over on snapWONDERS’ news page. This post isn’t about the number at all. This post is about why the number exists.
Where it started
Before snapWONDERS and Vaultify, there was Hueyify — a project with my son Huey. The full story, and how it led here, is at snapWONDERS Vaultify’s own story.
I often think back to a conversation with Huey in the car, where he insisted the concept of “Hueyify” could be applied to digital media. I’ll admit, upon hearing this idea and quickly assessing the engineering feasibility, the extreme technical difficulties discouraged me, and I was quick to be vocal about it, and for a moment I saw the look of disappointment on him.
He envisioned embedding stories within media so that those with vision impairments could gather personal context, deeper meaning, shared feelings, and memories that might otherwise be inaccessible.
No doubt he was visionary, ahead of his time, and I could never let go of that memory or vision he had.
What it became
After he passed, I couldn’t carry the project Hueyify forward as it was, so I paused it and started again from a different angle: snapWONDERS, focused on what digital media actually contains and who can see it. Privacy and authenticity, not accessibility, became the immediate work. My strategy was that if we could understand digital media in more depth, then the second half to this, steganography, would somehow make sense and follow through on Huey’s vision.
Vaultify is the closest thing I’ve built to what Huey actually described — content embedded inside media, concealed from everyone except who it’s meant for. What once felt too complex to realise is now within reach.
Six million jobs later
The number on the news page isn’t the point by itself. What it actually shows is that the idea kept going — through a full platform rebuild, a name change, years of nobody outside a small group knowing any of this had a starting point that wasn’t a business plan. Six million is evidence the thing got built, not just talked about.
Today is Huey’s birthday, and sometimes, while working on this project in the wee hours of the night, I can feel his gentle presence.
