AI has the remarkable potential to enhance existing image compression techniques by considering the overall context of a natural photo. While the importance of neighboring pixels cannot be overlooked, the true significance lies in understanding the context of the pixels within the entire picture. Through intelligent analysis of this context, AI can effectively reduce information content in certain areas more aggressively while preserving it in others. As a result, when the image is viewed as a whole, the perceived loss of information is minimal. This groundbreaking approach opens up new possibilities for achieving even greater levels of image compression.
